The Asakusa Kannon Temple, also referred to as the Sensoji Temple, is Tokyo’s oldest and most famous temple complex. Founded around ad 645, the temple enshrines a golden sculpture of Kannon, bodhisattva of mercy. This print depicts the sky’s clearing and fresh snow at a corner of the temple’s main hall. The building was bombed and destroyed during World War II and was rebuilt in 1958
