Korean gray stoneware was introduced to Japan through trade and immigration of Korean potters during Korea’s Three Kingdoms period (57 BC–AD 668). Japanese stoneware like this bowl, similar in design and shape to Korean stoneware, has been unearthed in a large area along the Korean coast and along part of Honshu Island’s west coast.
