From this high-relief copper plaque, Christ gazes directly into the eyes of the viewer and raises his hand in the symbol of benediction, representing the motif of Christ in Majesty. This image derives from the description of the apocalyptic Christ inthe book of Revelation. The figure would have been affixed to the center of a cross, surrounded by the four beasts of Revelation (the winged man, lion, ox, and eagle).
