This jar is an example of the well-known porcelain made by the Rozenburg Pottery Company beginning in 1899. The petal-thin porcelain resembles English bone china in composition and method of production. Examples of Rozenburg porcelain displayed at the 1900 World’s Fair in Paris were spectacularly successful and captured public attention. Flowers, trailing vines, and an elaborate peacock decorate this jar painted by the celebrated Rozenburg artist Samuel Schellink.
