Honor Roll

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is grateful to the dedicated supporters—members, donors, community partners, corporations, and foundations—whose gifts of time and talent make it possible for us to share art with all Virginians. We thank the Commonwealth of Virginia, our Board of Trustees and Board of Directors, and all those listed below for their investment in VMFA.

Honor Roll of Contributors

The 2023–2024 Honor Roll of Contributors, prepared by VMFA, represents contributions and pledges received between July 1, 2023, and June 30, 2024. VMFA recognizes multiyear gifts and pledges for their full amounts in the fiscal year they are made. Subsequent payments are recognized for their cash values.

Cumulative Giving

Support for VMFA takes many forms—from annual membership gifts to designated funding for exhibitions, educational initiatives, conservation, art purchases, and capital improvements. We gratefully acknowledge the total giving of the following individuals and institutions who made gifts and pledges of $500 or more during the last fiscal year.

Gifts to Membership

Membership gifts support a wide variety of programs and events, including art education, exhibitions, the library, conservation, tours for children and adults, statewide outreach, publications, lectures, and teacher programs. In addition, these unrestricted funds may be used throughout the museum wherever the need is greatest. We thank our members who made gifts of $500 or more during the last fiscal year.

Tribute Gifts

Tribute gifts are a meaningful way to recognize a family member or loved one’s connection to the museum. We recognize both the donors and the honorees whose connection to VMFA inspired these contributions.

Belvedere Society

Overlooking the museum’s entire campus, the belvedere in the E. Claiborne and Lora Robins Sculpture Garden truly provides a “beautiful view.” This vantage point is a fitting moniker for a group of patrons whose extraordinary generosity has enabled every aspect of the museum to flourish. Established in 2021, the Belvedere Society, which recognizes those who have made gifts of one million dollars or more over the course of a lifetime.

Gifts of Art

Beginning with Judge John Barton Payne’s founding gift of 50 paintings, VMFA’s collection has been enriched by generous patrons who have donated acquisition funds or works of art from their own collections. We thank these individuals and organizations for making gifts of art during the last year and recognize them as members of the John Barton Payne Society.

null

Glasgow Society

VMFA recognizes all those who make a planned gift to the museum with membership in the Glasgow Society, formerly the Heritage Society. Legacy gifts may provide unrestricted support for the museum’s greatest needs or be directed toward special projects that reflect a donor’s passion. For their commitment to VMFA’s future, we gratefully acknowledge the newest Glasgow Society members and those who made additional gifts this year. A full list of Glasgow Society members may be found on VMFA’s Planned Giving Page.

New Endowments

A strong endowment is the very core of the museum’s financial foundation. While most philanthropic gifts support immediate needs, endowed funds provide an ongoing source of income to ensure VMFA’s financial stability well into the future. We are grateful for these newly created funds whose annual income will support a variety of critical needs across the museum.

Corporate Supporters

Through membership gifts and sponsorships of special exhibitions, member events, and educational programs, corporate philanthropy furthers VMFA’s impact both in Richmond and across the Commonwealth. We are thankful to the following local and national businesses for their support during the last fiscal year.
