The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is a state-supported, privately endowed educational institution created for the benefit of the citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Its purpose is to collect, preserve, exhibit, and interpret art, to encourage the study of the arts, and thus to enrich the lives of all.

Mask Requirements

At this time, mask-wearing is required for all visitors, staff, and volunteers, regardless of vaccination status. Disposable masks are available at museum entrances, and social-distancing protocols remain in place. VMFA continues to make your safety, comfort, and enjoyment its top priority.


Hours & Admission

VMFA is open 365 days a year and general admission is free.

Museum & Shop

Daily 10 am–5 pm and until 9 pm Wed, Thu, Fri
Open 10 am–5 pm on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Best Café

Daily 10 am–4:30 pm
Wed, Thu, Fri until 8:30 pm

Amuse Restaurant

Daily 11:30 am–4:30 pm
Wed, Thu, Fri until 8:30 pm
Reservations recommended.
