Angered by Moronao, Wakasanosuke tells his servant Honzo that he will kill Moronao. Honzo pretends to encourage Wakasanosuke by telling him to behead Moronao and demonstrates the action by cutting a pine branch with Wakasanosuke's sword. He returns the sword covered with pine resin so it will stick to its sheath, and Wakasanosuke will be unable to draw it on Moronao. Kataoka Nizaemon VIII is pictured in the role of Wakasanosuke. Bando Kamerzo plays Honzo.
