Adult Registration
ADULT REGISTRATIONThose who register for adult studio and lecture courses must be 16 or older.
Register by MailEnroll early by mail! From Jan 4 until the first day of class, fill in and return the Registration Form and payment. Registrations received before Jan 4 will be held and opened on Jan 4.
Register by PhoneFrom Tues, Jan 19, until the first day of class, register by phone for adult studio classes at 804.367.0816, Mon–Fri, 9 am–5 pm; for adult lecture classes, at 804.340.1405, Mon–Fri, 8:45 am–4:30 pm. To ensure enrollment, your payment must be received within 4 business days. Classes and workshops with insufficient enrollment will be canceled at least a week before they are scheduled to start. Please register early.
MaterialsFor studio classes, students are required to supply some or all materials. A list of required materials will be available after each class listing.
ConfirmationMailed Studio School registrations will receive confirmation by phone or e-mail; lecture class tickets will be mailed.
Continuing Education CreditUpon request, teachers who participate in courses will receive a letter of completion to submit to their school for continuing education credit at the end of the course.

Preschool ProgramsFor ages 2–5, accompanied by an adult. Classes meet in the Pauley Center Educational Resource Room. Questions: 804.340.1573.

Teen ProgramsTeen classes and events are for students in grades 6–12. All classes meet in the Pauley Center Lobby. Questions: 804.340.1573.
ScholarshipsScholarships for students ages 5–17 are based on financial need. All information is confidential. Applications are due to VMFA for consideration three weeks in advance of the start of the requested class. To apply, download the Scholarship Form or call 804.340.1573.

Limited EnrollmentClass space is limited. Registration is first come, first served. Please register early.
Studio AttireMany materials used in class are permanent and cannot be washed out. Students are advised to wear "studio" clothes to class.
PaymentTuition and all fees are due in full upon registration. VMFA accepts checks, cash, or credit cards (VISA, MC, AMEX). If you register by phone, payment must be received within 4 business days. Studio School ParkingIf there are no parking spaces in the Studio School lot, park in the VMFA Parking Deck, Sheppard Street and Stuart Avenue, 9 am–7 pm, free with your Studio School parking pass.
Location of ClassesAdult studio classes meet in the Studio School at 2911–15 Grove Avenue (across from VMFA) at the corner of Sheppard Street. Adult lecture classes and youth programs meet at the Pauley Center, located across the parking lot from the museum’s Main Entrance.
Membership DiscountsMembers of VMFA receive discounts on classes and workshops.
Scheduling NoteClasses do not meet during Spring Break, Mar 14–21. For information on possible cancellations due to inclement weather, phone 804.340.1400.
Teaching ProposalsArtists with adult teaching experience interested in teaching a workshop not currently offered at the Studio School are encouraged to send a descriptive cover letter, résumé, 10–20 images of their artwork, and a workshop description. All proposals will be considered and materials will be returned if accompanied by a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Please familiarize yourself with our current offerings before you submit a proposal.
Educational Resource RoomLocated in the Pauley Center, open Wed–Fri, 11 am–5 pm. Explore engaging resources with your child, including books, puzzles, the Internet, and CD-ROMs. Research the VMFA collection and make use of Pandora, our ready online reference of catalogued material.
Say Cheese!Photographers are on duty at museum events to capture images for VMFA’s archives and publications. If you prefer not to have pictures taken of yourself or family members, please notify the instructor.

CancellationsFees are nonrefundable except when VMFA cancels a class. Classes may not be substituted or switched once registration is complete. Be sure to mark your calendar! |
