VCU Podcast: Queen Anne
Speaker 1: You can tell her clothes are expensive look at all
the jewels.
Speaker 2: She looks rich, look at all the pearls.
Speaker 1: Are they real?
Speaker 2: Yeah like the queen has fake pearls!
Speaker 1: She's got a really cool dress.
Speaker 2: I sort of don't like it!
Speaker 1: Why!?! It is so rich and colorful.
Speaker 2: But it's so big. It seems like it would be hard to
move in.
Speaker 1: Looks like layers and layers of fabric.
Speaker 2: Yeah wouldn't it be hot?
Speaker 1: There's no heating in the castle so it must be really
cold.
Speaker 2: What's up with those sleeves?
Speaker 1: Maybe that's just for the portrait, I doubt that outfit
would be for everyday.
Speaker 1: Look at the floor, it doesn't look very flat does it?
Speaker 2: You're right, it's totally tilted down! Why is it like
that?
Speaker 1: Maybe to show the pattern in the rug?
Speaker 2: It's interesting the way the pattern on the rug contrasts
with the print of her dress and the design on the tablecloth.
Speaker 1: I like her fan-it looks like feathers.
Speaker 2: Yeah it's pretty.
Speaker 1: I thought only Spain had fans.
Speaker 2: Yeah it seems like it's just for decoration considering
all the clothes she's wearing.
Speaker 1: Just part of the outfit
Speaker 2: It does sort of echo the shape of her head in the composition
of the painting.
Speaker 2: Look how tiny her feet are!
Speaker 1: It's not very proportional.
Speaker 2: Her hands are sort of small too.
Speaker 1: I think that's to make it more delicate but they could
have done something with her nose!
Speaker 2: Maybe the huge dress contributes too!
Speaker 1: Is anyone else from her family in the museum?
Speaker 2: I don't know, let's go find out.
