FRIENDS OF ART OFFICERS AND BOARD MEMBERS 2009-2010


Melissa Mariner
President, Melissa Mariner

A native of Richmond, Melissa Mariner received her undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary. She is employed by the locally based consulting firm, Amentra, Inc. as their Recruitment Manager. After three years serving on the board of Friends of Art, Melissa is proud to lead the group through the completion of VMFA’s expansion.

Zach Means
President-elect, Zach Means

Zach Means is a Senior Associate at the Wilton Companies and is active throughout the local and southeast business and real estate communities. He holds a B.A. from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Zach is entering his second term on the Friends of Art board, his efforts will be continued to be focused on soliciting interest in different forms of contributions from both local and regional businesses to insure the continuance of successful social and educational events hosted by FOA. Zach is also actively involved with the Urban Land Institute, OPUS, and was a founding member of Moving Richmond Forward. In his spare time Zach can be found moutain biking along the trails of the James River Park System, or chasing trophy sportfish along the Florida and Carolina coasts. 

Emily Masters
Secretary, Emily Masters

A native of Richmond, Emily Masters received her undergraduate degree from the The University of Arizona and returned to Virginia after the Peace Corps, where she received her Masters at VCU. Emily is a personal and executive coach and currently works as a Project Manager for The Martin Agency. She is active with the Junior League and serves on the board of Back Porch Initiatives, an environmental non-profit. Emily is very excited for her second year with Friends of Art.


Treasurer, Laura Ward

Laura and her husband Matt and have been members of FOA for the past three years and have enjoyed learning about the organization, meeting new people and supporting the Richmond arts community. She grew up on the Rappahannock River, coming to Richmond all through childhood, and she is very happy to now give back to the city she loves. Laura is looking forward to another great year! Oh, and Go Hokies!

Jack Shannon
Past President, Jack Shannon

Jack is proud to serve with this talented and dedicated board for his fourth year with Friends of Art. An active arts supporter since arriving in Richmond, Jack previously helped to found OPUS in support of the Virginia Performing Arts Foundation, serving as its events chair for two years. He was also a co-founder of the Party Mafia--a collection of events specialists who collaborate to produce charitable events in Richmond. When not volunteering and advocating for the arts in Richmond, he enjoys booking bands and producing concerts for EastCoast Entertainment, playing guitar with the unconventional instrumental group, The Heavy Rotations, and working (very slowly) on his first solo recording project as an amateurish singer/songwriter. His friends and colleagues are generous to describe him as "unbearable" when he is allowed to discuss some of his other interests which include Auburn University football and wing shooting.

Suzanne West
Events Co-chair, Suzanne West

Suzanne West grew up on Smith Mountain Lake in Southwestern Virginia. A 2001 graduate of The College of William & Mary, she holds a B.A degree in English and a minor in French. Prior to becoming Communications Specialist at the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, Suzanne served as a project manager in a public relations and advertising agency in Roanoke, VA.

Special Events, Jessica Fulbright

Jessica is happy to be on the board of Friends of Art for a second year in a row working with Special Events. As well as Friends of Art, Jessica is on the board of Henley Street Theatre Company and works as the General Manager of Gibson's Grill located in downtown Richmond.

Auction Co-chair, Helen Mundin

After living in New York City for five years, Helen knew that she would move back to Richmond where she grew up. The Friends of Art program is the perfect way to build a relationship with the Museum and meet new people in the process. Helen is thrilled to contribute to the Auction committee for a consecutive year.

Lindsey Wise
Auction Co-chair, Lindsey Wise

Lindsey Wise is currently employed in the Fixed Asset Accounting department of Dominion Resources Services, Inc. She began volunteering with FOA in 2003 and joined the board as Treasurer in 2007. She looks forward to working on the auction committee!

Kerry Riley
Volunteer Coordinator, Kerry Riley

Kerry Riley is a real estate sales associate with Long and Foster Realtors. Kerry is a lifelong resident of the Richmond and Williamsburg area, currently living in the Fan District. A big proponent of Arts and Culture in the Richmond community, he also serves as the co-chair of the Events Committee for OPUS and is involved with the Quoit Club of the Historic Richmond Foundation.

Blair McDuff
Membership Co-chair, Blair McDuff

Blair McDuff is a corporate recruiter for Amentra, Inc., a business and technology consulting firm based in Richmond. She and her husband, Patrick, live in Westover Hills and have been active members of Friends of Art since joining two years ago. Blair is also involved with SCAN and Art 180.  

Lindsey Selph
Membership Co-chair, Lindsey Selph

Lindsey is a native of Oklahoma City and has lived in Richmond for the past five years. She teaches first grade in Henrico County and is very excited about serving on her first year on the Friends of Art Board. In her spare time Lindsey likes to read, work out, and be with her friends and family. Lindsey is very excited about planning her upcoming wedding.

Daniel McGee
Corporate Sponsorship Chair, Daniel McGee

Daniel and his relocated to Richmond from Houston, having lived previously in Boston, Oregon, Mexico City and Madrid. As a transplant to Richmond, he was happy to finally locate a group of like minded folks in FOA who enjoy socializing and great art. With a toddler at home, Daniel’s free time is pretty limited but he enjoys preparing a nice meal for his family and friends, smoking a great cigar, enjoying a glass or two of fine wine, reading the latest NY Times’ bestseller, and even playing a round of golf…when time permits.


Media and Community Outreach Co-Chair, Jeff Kelley

A graduate of Randolph-Macon College and former business reporter for the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Jeff Kelley is a specialist in public relations and communications, serving a number of small businesses and Fortune 200 clients. Active in the young professional community, he enjoys promoting Richmond’s vibrant arts scene and has earned a reputation as one of the city’s leading bloggers, writing and managing satirical Richmond Web site Tobacco Avenue.
