Some VMFA events during Expansion will take place off site at familiar locations around town. As you read the descriptions of classes, lectures, and special events on this Web site and in printed VMFA publications, look for the symbol that notes these neighboring venues.

PARKING UPDATE - January 2010

• The new parking deck is open to the public. The facility has spaces for up to 600 vehicles. The deck will be open for the public 9 am-7 pm daily, with extended hours during special events. Daily use fee for the parking deck is $3 per space for the general public. Members may park free by showing a membership card when exiting the deck.

• Parking in the deck is included in the ticket price of some events. Please check your event ticket or registration materials to see if free parking is available.

• The parking lot is closed except for disabled parking and turn-around traffic for drop-off to walkways leading to the Temporary Entrance and the Pauley Center (formerly CEO, Center for Education and Outreach).

• Access to the new parking deck is at Sheppard St. and Stuart Ave. until the Expansion is completed and the Boulevard entrance opens. During this construction phase, visitors will be directed from the parking deck to the museum’s temporary entrance along a paved walkway. The drop-off area accessible from Grove Ave. is still available, as are the limited handicap spaces in this area. For details, please see the campus map below.

• As the Expansion construction continues, remember that the parking deck represents just one of the key goals for the new VMFA, which include expanded galleries, increased education facilities, the Sculpture Garden, and a greater visual presence on the Boulevard.
