Canvas is a group of energetic and innovative art advocates and young collectors who have a keen interest in furthering their knowledge of the arts through exciting educational and social programming. The goal of Canvas is to nurture its members' appreciation of the visual arts by providing access to the arts and artists. Canvas members enjoy special access to VMFA curators, galleries, and conservators. Canvas also brings its members closer to the arts in Richmond through links with commercial galleries, artists, and private collections. The Circle supports this collecting passion through programs designed to help its members find sources of good art and to promote their connoisseurship. The Circle hosts six meetings per year that feature lectures and/or demonstrations by leading art historians, collectors, dealers, or artists, followed by a social reception. Collectors’ Circle also sponsors trips to view public and private collections of art and celebrates an outstanding collector or collection with its annual members gala.
