Business Council

The VMFA Business Council is a group of local businesspeople who are closely associated with VMFA and its mission, serving the Museum by soliciting new and increased corporate gifts to the VMFA Fund and corporate support for special Museum projects.

Canvas

Stretch Your Mind! Canvas is a group of energetic and innovative art advocates and young collectors who have a keen interest in furthering their knowledge of the arts through exciting educational and social programming. The goal of Canvas is to nurture its members' appreciation of the visual arts by providing access to the arts and artists. Canvas members enjoy special access to VMFA curators, galleries, and conservators. Canvas also brings its members closer to the arts in Richmond through links with commercial galleries, artists, and private collections. The Collectors' Circle

The Collectors’ Circle of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is a fellowship of art enthusiasts with a special interest in collecting. The Circle supports this collecting passion through programs designed to help its members find sources of good art and to promote their connoisseurship. The Circle hosts six meetings per year that feature lectures and/or demonstrations by leading art historians, collectors, dealers, or artists, followed by a social reception. Collectors’ Circle also sponsors trips to view public and private collections of art and celebrates an outstanding collector or collection with its annual members gala. The Council of VMFA

Be part of an exciting and active volunteer group at VMFA! The Council of VMFA provides time, talent and fundraising to support the museum. This group operates the VMFA Shop, sponsors fundraising events, including the highly successful Fine Arts & Flowers, and provides volunteers for many other areas of the museum.

The Friends of African and African-American Art

This organization, for those with an interest in African and African-American Art, is actively involved in supporting the museum's mission through adult and children's educational programs, acquisitions, and social events. For those who love Egyptian, Greek, Roman, and Near Eastern art, this group is an opportunity to learn more and and to participate in the growth of the Museum's ancient collection. Activities include tours of exhibitions and private collections, and visiting dealers and previewing auctions with the curator. We're looking for young adults who share enthusiasm for the arts, have a lively style, and want to be actively involved with this thriving Museum support group. The Friends of Art welcomes prospective new members; come join the fun in a variety of social and cultural opportunities! With social or art-related events each month, there's never a dull moment. Activities include cocktail parties in the galleries, special lectures, tours of private art collections, art-related dinner parties, and a host of opportunities to volunteer time helping the museum. The Friends of Sporting Art

The Friends of Sporting Art (FOSA) is a support group of sporting art enthusiasts formed to increase the appreciation of sporting art and culture through a series of lectures, special visits to public and private collections, and unique travel opportunities. Through special events, it aims to build an appreciation for the diversity found within sporting art and to promote understanding and awareness of VMFA’s Paul Mellon Collection of sporting prints, paintings and sculptures.

Friends of the Studio School

The Friends of the Studio School (FOSS) promotes the school and helps to keep vital a year-round program of classes and workshops. FOSS programs will feature visiting-artist lectures and workshops, and other special projects and events. Beyond the studio, FOSS plans social activities where members can meet like-minded individuals and help support this unique studio program.
